It’s no secret among my friends that I’m a huge comedy fan. Entertainment can be expensive, especially in a city like New York where stress is almost a second nature feeling to us. As a result, we seek stress relief. I’ve always believed that laughter is, in fact, the best medicine. With that said, I have always reached out to comedy, (Dane Cook being a personal favorite of mine). All of the comedy clubs below have tickets ranging from $25-$35 depending on the popularity of the headliner. A great idea for date night or a girl’s night out. Even living in New York, comedy clubs are inexpensive and always end up being a great night out.
The comedy clubs included in this post have incredible line ups from The Wayans Brothers to Robert Kelly to Jeff Dunham. Not only are there some incredible scheduled headliners, but big names such as Chris Rock and Dane Cook have been known to pop in and do guest spots at these clubs. You never know who you’re going to find going up on that stage!
Caroline’s on Broadway
Located in the heart of Times Square, Carolines on Broadway presents the very best live comedy entertainment seven nights a week, 365 days a year. Just steps from many of Broadway’s most well known theaters, Carolines on Broadway provides the same quality entertainment that is customary on New York’s legendary Great White Way.
Gotham Comedy Club
Native New Yorkers Chris Mazzilli and Michael Reisman opened Gotham Comedy Club in May 1996. Mazzilli, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, was roundly praised at that time for his top to bottom design of the original 3,300 square foot space. “It’s been ten years since a club of this magnitude opened in Manhattan,” said Mazzilli at the time. We felt that it was time for changes in the way comedy clubs have been perceived: all comedy and no ambiance.
The Comedy Cellar is a comedy club in Manhattan, where many top New York comedians perform. It was founded in 1982 by then standup comedian, and current television writer/producer Bill Grundfest
Stand Up NY
Stand Up NY opened its doors to the Upper West Side in the spring of 1986, making it one of the oldest comedy clubs in the city. From day one, Stand Up NY has devoted itself to finding the city’s hottest new comedic talents. Some of America’s most successful comics such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Jon Stewart started their comedy careers on Stand Up NY’s stage.
LAUGH HARD. LAUGH RESPONSIBLY.
