Halloween, what can you say about this American holiday. For most people growing up as a child, this was either the best holiday or the second best holiday after Christmas or Hanukkah. You get to become someone you would like to be, you get to get free candy, and you get to have fun on either a school night or more fun over the weekend.
For me Halloween was the start of decorating the house season. It was time to go to the store and get a lot of spiderwebs, feet, hands, skeletons, blood, ghosts, witches, vampires and Frankenstein. Outside in the front yard was so cool growing up, because many of my neighbors didn’t decorate as much. This was up from the beginning of October and it was great to anticipate Halloween. One decoration I can not forget was a giant Frankenstein that had to be stuffed, he made noises, and I thought it was the greatest thing even though he just sat down. It was great to see people reaction when they came trick or treating. But the worst part was taking it all down =(
On a positive note, dressing up was the greatest. My elementary school always had this parade that we did every year. We would march around the school’s neighborhood. We came to school in our uniform and after recess we would come inside and get dressed. It was great walking into class with your new costume and once everyone was done, we will begin the march. When the march was over it was PARTY TIME, unfortunately there were no alcoholic beverages, but if kids did that, that would not be pretty. This party included cupcakes, candy, chip and toys; it sounded cooler then than now.
Today, my Halloween experience goes up and down. Sometimes I want to celebrate and other times IDGAF, this year is one of those IDGAF Halloween. With how the weather is now, I’m not tempted to dress up. But past Halloween were great because now I had alcoholic beverages and nothing is funnier than seeing The King from Burger King having a fun time at a party.
Halloween is the greatest for children and even for adults that enjoy having that spirit. Its a time to loosen up and enjoy life and be funny, but you must be careful of the dangers. Have a Happy Halloween and be safe and have fun.
